Pool Automation Repair & Installation

Pool automation repair

Automation is what turns a pad full of equipment into one system. When it fails, everything downstream looks broken — which is why automation faults get misdiagnosed as pump and heater faults.

The thing automation does to diagnosis

It hides the cause. A pump that does not run because a relay is not closing looks exactly like a pump that does not run because the motor failed. A heater that never fires because it is not receiving a call for heat looks like a heater fault.

So the first question on any automation-adjacent problem is not "what is broken" but "what is the system actually telling this equipment to do."

What we repair

  • Control panels that are dead, blank, or unresponsive
  • Valve actuators that will not switch, switch partially, or switch the wrong way
  • Relays that no longer close
  • Sensors reading obviously wrong values
  • Schedules and programming that have been lost or were never right
  • Connectivity between the panel, the gateway and the app

Start with the free checks

Before anyone comes out:

  • Does the panel respond at the pad? If yes, the equipment side is probably healthy and this may be a network problem.
  • Is the schedule still set the way you expect? Outages lose them.
  • Is the breaker for the automation panel on? It is often a separate one.

None of that requires opening anything.

Where it stops being homeowner work

Anything behind the panel cover. Automation panels contain line-voltage relays alongside low-voltage control wiring, and the two are not obviously distinguishable to someone who does not work on them.

Automation and accessory installation

  • Automation panel installation — where a pad has equipment worth controlling and nothing controlling it.
  • Time-clock installation — the simpler answer when full automation is more than you want. A reliable clock solves most of what people actually need.
  • Valve actuator installation — adding automatic valves where the valve bodies support it. See valve and actuator repair for how those fail.
  • Automatic pool-cleaner installation — including the plumbing and the dedicated line where one is needed.
  • Spa-blower installation.

The question worth asking before an automation install is what you actually want it to do. A system that schedules the pump and switches a heater is a different install from one running valves, lights, a spa and a cleaner — and the second is considerably more work to add later than to include now.

Why homeowners call us

  • You approve the price first

Whether we are diagnosing a fault or doing a job you already know you need, you hear the price before any work starts. Nothing is replaced until you have approved it.

  • Pool equipment is all we work on

Pumps, motors, filters, salt systems, automation and the plumbing at the pad. The technician who diagnoses it is the one who fixes it.

  • Upfront pricing

Not sure what's wrong? A $120 diagnostic finds it, and the $120 is credited toward your repair if you go ahead. Many common repairs and installations have a set price instead.

Questions we get asked

My app can't connect. Is the equipment broken?

Often not. App problems are frequently the home network or the gateway rather than the pad. If the panel works at the equipment, the equipment is probably fine — and that is worth checking before anyone drives out.

The schedule stopped running. Why?

Schedules commonly get lost after a power outage, and Arizona monsoon season produces plenty of those. It can also be a relay that is no longer switching. The first is free to check.

Is it worth repairing an older control system?

Often, if parts are still available. Replacing a control system usually means touching everything it controls, so repair tends to be the better value while it remains possible.
