About the Hayward AquaRite S3
Hayward's AquaRite S3 owner's manual (1011728 Rev A) covers three models: the AQRS340 for pools up to 40,000 gallons, the AQRS325 for pools up to 25,000 gallons and the AQRS315 for pools up to 15,000 gallons. Hayward says installation and mounting are the same for all three, and each ships with an electronics unit, a flow switch and an electrolytic cell (the TurboCell).
The replacement parts list is one list for all three models. It includes the replacement TurboCell cells (TCELLS315, TCELLS318, TCELLS325, TCELLS340 and TCELLS340X25 with a 25 ft cable). Hayward says each AquaRite S3 is shipped with its corresponding TurboCell, and that if the cell is replaced with a different model the cell type must be changed in the Service settings menu.
Hayward's TurboCell S3 sheet (092666 Rev B) cross-references each TurboCell S3 cell to the older cell selection a chlorinator's menu uses: TCELLS340, TCELLS340W and TCELLS340X25 to t-15 / T-CELL-15; TCELLS325 and TCELLS325W to t-9 / T-CELL-9; TCELLS318 and TCELLS318W to t-5 / T-CELL-5; TCELLS315 and TCELLS315W to t-3 / T-CELL-3. It says the chlorinator must be configured for the cell, and not to use a TurboCell S3 if the chlorinator does not offer the cross-referenced selection. It lists the AQRS3 among the chlorinators that need this configuration.
Repair or replace?
Most of these parts are replaceable on their own, which is why it matters which one has actually failed before anything is ordered. Whether a repair or a new pump makes more sense depends on what failed and the condition of the rest of the pump. Salt System Repair & Installation
